Will the wind ever stop blowing this is my 5th session in 6 days and the
poor old body is taking a good old battering! Today my plan was to head
down to The Manor to make the most of low water and get the session out of
the way before the big winds of the afternoon arrived! I was first down at
the beach around 9.30 after dropping Mag off at the end of the prom just as
the rain started! There is nothing I hate more than windsurfing in the rain
so sat and waited until it stopped while Neil, Ian, Michael and Rob
arrived. Then the rain stopped and we started to rig up, with the wind from
the south it was lumpier today and with it gusting over 20 knots the
heavyweights went for 6m while the lighter sailor rigged 5m. I had meant to
bring my F2 Ride 277 (100 lt) but forget and left it in my garage and was
first out on my Ride 282 (115 lt) which proved OK for the session. The
biggest mistake I made was putting my full wetsuit on and was way too hot!
Again I went for a none stop hour by doing ten runs out to the Wadgate Post
to make the most of the sandbank out there which make a long section of
smooth water with small breaking waves, defiantly the best section of water
here at The Manor, shame no one else sailed over to check it out:( I got so
OK gybes but nowhere near the standard of gybing legend Neil Hurrell who
again sailed the whole session without feeling in!!!! I came ashore pretty
knackered and it was lovely as the sun had actually came out and in the end
had had the best of the conditions. After a drink and snack, I had a few
more runs but it wasn’t much fun as the wind increased and the tide came
in the sea became a lumpy mess so called it a day, packing up before the
rain came back. As for tomorrow, a good forecast for foiuling and I fancy a
trip to Levington but high water is quite late so I am not sure, then
hopefully some light wind days so we can get back out on the bikes in some
sunshine!
